“Discernment” is a large, original oil-on-canvas painting by Jonathan Whitlock, an artist who makes his home in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The painting is Jonathan’s largest work to date, and was born of a sketch he made rather than an image that he saw. “Most of it came out of my noggin,” he says. “It’s a way of showing expression.” The work is a Picasso-like depiction of men, women and children in a musical environment. It conveys a natural sense of intrigue. “Discernment” features a blue and gray color palette and is one-of-a-kind. It measures 72 inches by 54 inches (gallery width) and comes without a frame.
