Malcolm Corley

At the age of three, Malcolm Corley was diagnosed with autism. At about the same time, he began to draw the sketches from the TV show, Blues Clues. Recreations of Dr. Seuss's  llustrations came next, some of which he drew from memory.

Starting in 2019, his sketch "Jazz Hands" was published in Hot Metal Bridge, and eight of his portraits were published in Up the Staircase. "Kiana" appeared on the Fusion Art website and "Closet" was published in Penn Review. His art has been shown at the Ware Center in Lancaster, PA, the Courage Kenny Rehab Center in Minneapolis and Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital. "Three Faces of Malcolm," was one of 104 paintings chosen from over 2,200 submissions for an annual exhibition at the State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg. "Bruke" was one of 92 pieces chosen from 1,850 entries for 2022 exhibition.

His acrylic painting "Untitled #1" was one of 15 chosen by The Kennedy Center's 2019 VSA program. Malcolm was the youngest artist to be recognized, and the only one with no post-secondary art training. That painting formed the "T" in an installation of the word "UNITY" at the Kennedy Center on display in 2021.

Studies in Brotherly Love, a limited-edition book consisting of poems about Malcolm's art and reproductions of the works that inspired them was published by PromptPress in fall of 2021. Award-winning poet, writer, and film producer D.J. Savarese, along with Jorrell Watkins, Lateef McLeod and Claretta Holsey provided the words to amplify Malcolm's art.
